Katrina Kadyszewski
Behavior Health Intern
Katrina joins Trauma Recovery Services of Arizona (TRSAZ) as a Behavioral Health Intern. She completed her master’s coursework at the University of Phoenix. She is excited to be able to devote more time to working with clients.
Originally from the Northeast, Katrina has spent the last decade in Phoenix, Arizona, in awe of the natural beauty of the desert. Her path to counseling followed previous careers in financial planning, government audit, and construction management. It was ultimately a personal training role that inspired her to explore the connection between physical and mental health. Her lived experience with sports injuries, chronic pain, and major life transitions further deepened her understanding of the need for compassionate, integrated healing.
Katrina brings a genuine interest in each client’s unique story. She approaches every person with empathy, respect, and curiosity. Believing we all hold innate wisdom and the ability to improve our circumstances, Katrina listens attentively to uncover client strengths and insights. She collaborates closely with clients to clarify their needs and values and to develop practical strategies for achieving their goals. When appropriate, she also incorporates a healthy dose of humor.
Katrina is dedicated to creating a supportive space for adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, injuries, and chronic pain. She has a special interest in “helping the helpers”—first responders, veterans, educators, and healthcare professionals—who often prioritize others' needs over their own. With a strong commitment to inclusive care, Katrina provides affirming and culturally sensitive support for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC clients. No matter the challenges a client presents, Katrina meets them where they are, encouraging reflection, resilience, and movement toward healing.
Adapting her approach to support each client’s specific needs and strengths, Katrina draws from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Katrina is also enrolled in training to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Outside of counseling work, Katrina loves wandering the Four Corners states, both on foot and on road trips. She regularly strength trains and enjoys recovering with reading time by the pool. She is a big fan of Georgia O’Keeffe and loves to dabble in arts and crafts. She has a goal to learn to speak Spanish.
