What Are EMDR Intensives All About?
EMDR Intensives in Phoenix, Arizona
Maybe you’ve done therapy before and feel like you’re still circling the same pain.
Maybe life has never slowed down enough for you to focus fully on your own healing.
Or maybe you know something needs to shift, and you’re ready to give it the space and care it deserves.
An EMDR Intensive offers a different path forward.
This is intentional, in-person trauma work designed to help you move through what’s been holding you back, not over months or years, but in a focused, supported window of time.
Intensives are typically not covered by insurance.
Exact pricing and scheduling are discussed during the consultation to ensure this is the right fit.
A Grounded Approach to Healing
In Diné culture, there is a concept called Hózhó, a way of living that honors balance, connection, and wholeness. It reflects the ability to hold steadiness and movement, rest and action, pain and healing simultaneously.
That philosophy shapes how this work is offered. Healing doesn’t need to be rushed. But it does need space.

Maybe you’ve had difficult experiences and have tried to work through them in weekly therapy. Or maybe you’ve never had the time to set things aside and focus on yourself. There’s never been a better time than now.

An EMDR Intensive creates the conditions for your nervous system to settle, for deeper processing to occur, and for real relief to take shape, all within a structure designed for safety, care, and integration.

And who better to lead you on this journey back to yourself than an EMDR Therapist? I’ve been in the field for over 20 years. As a Navajo woman, I’ve also seen and experienced generational traumas in my home and community. I’ve also been exposed to great healing from my culture, my family and in my own journey as a recipient of EMDR intensives to help me heal. Throughout the years in my career, I’ve witnessed the power of EMDR therapy. I’ve helped people heal from the traumas of sexual assault, loss, abuse, exposure to death and loss, workplace trauma such as shooting, death and horrific accidents. If a human has suffered, it’s likely that I’ve borne witness to that suffering. So know that whatever you have experienced, you are not alone. And you deserve peace and the ability to sleep at night, to focus on the things that bring you meaning and to experience deep joy.

An EMDR Intensive condenses what often takes many months of weekly therapy into 1–3 full days of focused, trauma-informed care.
If you’ve done therapy before but feel like you’re still circling the same pain, an EMDR Intensive offers a different path forward.
What Is an EMDR Intensive?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming, intrusive, or stuck.

An EMDR Intensive condenses what often takes many months of weekly therapy into 1–3 full days of focused, trauma-informed care.
This is not rushed therapy.
This is deliberate, well-paced work, with preparation beforehand and integration support afterward. Many people describe intensives as similar to doing multiple months of therapy in a short period of time, with built-in containment, grounding, and professional support.
Think of it as creating the space your system has been waiting for to finally exhale.
Intensive vs. Weekly Therapy
Why Choose an Intensive vs. Weekly Therapy?
You need focused time away from daily responsibilities to heal
You’re functioning well on the outside but struggling internally
You’ve been in therapy but feel stuck or plateaued
You’re ready to go deeper, with support
You want meaningful relief sooner, not incremental progress over time
Your schedule makes weekly therapy difficult
Who EMDR Intensives are for

What about this EMDR Intensive makes this different?
An EMDR Intensive typically involves extended sessions of focused therapeutic work over 1–3 consecutive days, often totaling several hours each day. Rather than spreading the work out week by week over many months, this format allows for deeper momentum and continuity, giving you the opportunity to address core issues in a more concentrated and supported way.

Because of this structure, many people experience meaningful relief and movement more quickly than they have in traditional weekly therapy. That said, intensives are called intensives for a reason.

The work can be emotionally demanding.
And the healing can be, too.

EMDR Intensives are not for everyone, and readiness matters. That’s why every intensive begins with a thorough consultation and assessment process. During this time, we’ll talk through your therapy history, current supports, goals, and whether this format is appropriate for you right now.

In some cases, intensives are used to focus on specific areas of a person’s history, such as early or complex trauma, after which the client returns to their ongoing therapist for continued care. If you’re currently working with a therapist, collaborative coordination is welcome and often encouraged.

If you’re curious about whether an EMDR Intensive could be a good fit, the next step is a consultation. Together, we’ll thoughtfully explore your needs and determine whether this approach aligns with where you are and what you’re seeking!
