Strengthening ties. Reconnecting broken threads.

Kids show stress in a lot of ways.

...tummy aches, big feelings, shutting down, acting out, clinging, or “I don’t know.” If your child has faced loss, moves, school changes, family shifts, or scary experiences, you’re not alone.

Children don’t always have the words for what they’re carrying. They show us through behavior, play, and connection. And when a child is hurting, the whole family feels it.

Your child deserves care that understands their world.

Is Your Child Struggling With...

Loss or grief

Worry, stress, or sleep troubles

Big emotions or shutdown/avoidance

Difficult transitions (relocation, family changes)

School, peer, or behavior challenges

If you said yes to any of these, a consult can help you map a plan.

TRSAZ Trauma Care Statistics

Why Culturally & Trauma-Informed Care Matters

Children from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) backgrounds often face disproportionate exposure to traumatic experiences and systemic racism. Research shows:

  • 61% of African American youth experience at least one Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE), compared to 40% of White children (Laura Danforth et al., 2024).

  • Traumatic experiences are more common among minority youth due to historical/generational trauma, discrimination, and community violence (A. Pumariega et al., 2022).

  • Vulnerabilities for BIPOC youth are magnified by structural, interpersonal, and internalized racism (Eric Rafla-Yuan et al., 2022).

  • Race, ethnicity, and culture significantly influence both trauma frequency and children’s reactions (T. Harris et al., 2010).

Specialized care is crucial for addressing these complex, intersecting challenges and supporting healthy child development.
