FAQs
Trauma-informed therapy is a compassionate approach to mental health treatment that understands and addresses the profound impact trauma can have on an individual’s emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. At our center, this type of therapy forms the foundation of our care, ensuring that each step of treatment is mindful of the complexities trauma can introduce.
Yes, many of our clients find our virtual therapy sessions to be just as effective as in-person therapy. Telehealth therapy is an accesible way to receive the mental health support you need from the comfort of your home. Virtual also allows you to access therapy on-the-go, whether you are traveling for work or live in a remote location where you cannot travel into a city for an in-person session.
In your first session, your therapist will typically discuss your concerns, treatment goals, and any relevant history. This is an opportunity for you to get to know your therapist and decide if you're comfortable working together. The session will help establish a foundation for your therapy process. It may help to come prepared with a few goals and concerns you have in mind.
Choosing the right therapy provider is a personal decision, and it's important to find someone who understands your unique needs. We recommend booking a free consultation call with one of our therapists. This allows you to discuss your situation, ask any questions, and get a better sense of which type of therapy would be the best fit for you. You can also check out this blog post here where we share some helpful tips on choosing the right therapist for you.
Insurance coverage for therapy varies depending on your provider and plan. We recommend contacting your insurance company directly to verify if our services are covered. If you plan to use insurance, we can provide a detailed receipt or superbill for you to submit to your insurer for reimbursement. If you have questions about the process or need assistance, feel free to reach out to our office, and we'll be happy to help guide you through the next steps.
All communication is facilitated through your client portal. You will receive access the client portal once you book your first therapy appointment. The primary means of communication will be through:
Messaging with your therapist
Phone consultations with your therapist
Video conferencing with your therapist

No. ChatGPT and other AI tools are not a substitute for licensed mental health care. They don’t have a duty of care, can’t assess risk the way a clinician does, and aren’t responsible for mandated reporting.
AI can feel supportive in the moment, but it may also misunderstand context, miss warning signs, or respond in ways that aren’t clinically appropriate. Recent lawsuits allege harmful responses contributed to crises, which reinforces that AI should not be relied on for mental health care or safety planning. If you’ve been using AI, you can tell your therapist; we’ll integrate that into your treatment plan.
