Effie Evangeline Gonzales

Hi, I am Effie, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern at Northern Arizona University. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and feeling truly seen, heard, and accepted is an important part of healing. My goal is to support and empower clients to become their most authentic selves.

I am particularly interested in working with young adults who are exploring who they are, learning to navigate life, and overcoming the effects of childhood experiences and trauma. I hope to create a warm, compassionate, nonjudgmental and safe space where clients can better understand themselves, explore patterns that may no longer serve them, and develop a deeper sense of connection with themselves and others.

My approach is grounded in curiosity, empathy, and the belieff that each person has their own strengths, resources, and capacity fro growth. As I continue my training, I am especially interested in exploring approaches that consider the connection between the mind, body, emotions, and different parts of ourselves. I am also interested in learning more about working with couples.

As a passionate counseling intern, I bring a willingness to listen, learn, and meet each client where they are at. I am honored to support my clients along the way as they navigate challenges, discover strengths, and move toward meaningful growth and change.
