Arizona now allows Licensed Associate Counselors to own and operate their own private practice under Board-approved clinical supervision. Jordanna Saunders, MC, LPC, NCC is accepting supervised private practice supervisees beginning October 2026.
What Does Arizona Require for Supervised Private Practice?
Under Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners rules (A.A.C. R4-6-217):

You, your practice, and your supervisor must be physically located in Arizona

You may have only one supervised private practice supervisor at a time

You and your supervisor must each complete 3 clock hours of Board-required training in behavioral health business operations

Your practice materials must identify your business as a supervised private practice under Board-approved clinical supervision
Jordanna has completed the required business operations training and is on the AZBBHE Clinical Supervisor Registry. At this time, supervised private practice supervision is offered to LACs only.

Jordanna uses a hybrid model of supervision integrating developmental, feminist, and multicultural theories in her work. As an enrolled Tribal member, much of Jordanna's work has been cultivated by her experiences both on and off Indigenous reservations.
Jordanna has over 20 years of experience in behavioral health, in both direct practice and administration. She believes deeply in autonomy and doing good. She has worked in many practice settings including outpatient treatment centers (urban, rural, and Reservation), jails, community-based settings, hospitals, and private practice.
Jordanna is the founder and operator of Trauma Recovery Services of Arizona and has direct experience growing and managing a private practice in the state of Arizona. She is an established writer and has written book chapters for EMDRIA and the American Counseling Association to encourage the ethical and culturally informed practice of working with Indigenous clients.
In her free time, she enjoys playing video games, making mixed media art, travel, and spending time with her family and animals.

Virtual, in-person, and hybrid practices may be considered. Acceptance is based on clinical fit, readiness, scope of practice, and available supervision capacity.
Supervised Private Practice Consultation and Supervision
Supervised private practice involves more than traditional clinical supervision. It includes oversight of your clinical work, practice structure, documentation, policies, risk management, and compliance with Arizona Board requirements. Because of this additional responsibility, SPP supervision is priced separately from standard clinical supervision.
Initial SPP Setup Fee: $500
Before supervision begins, the initial setup process includes reviewing:

Pay-As-You-Go: $200 per hour
This option is appropriate for clinicians with smaller caseloads or variable supervision needs. Administrative work, additional consultation, extensive record review, and required travel are billed separately at a lower admin rate.
Monthly Supervision Package: starting at $550 per month
The monthly package includes:

Two 60-minute individual supervision sessions each month

Routine supervision documentation and review of supervision logs

Limited consultation between scheduled sessions

Quarterly practice and compliance review

Additional supervision or consultation at $175 per hour
Unused supervision time does not roll over to future months. Mileage and travel time are not included and are billed separately.
Not Ready to Open Your Practice Yet?
Clinicians who are still exploring supervised private practice may schedule business-development consultation at $150 per hour. Consultation may include guidance with selecting an EHR, defining a client population, identifying essential policies, establishing workflows, and preparing for supervised private practice.
A basic starter set of customizable practice-policy templates is also available for $1,000. This package provides a foundational policy framework but does not include legal advice or guarantee regulatory compliance. Clinicians remain responsible for adapting the policies to their practice and obtaining legal or compliance review when needed.
